I started out my love for photography through taking photos of flowers in gardens. I lived within Washington DC proper at the time, so I’d go to Dumbarton Oaks Gardens every few weeks and capture the flowers through the year. When I met my husband in DC several years ago our first date was at the U.S. Botanic Garden on the Mall, where he showed me for the first time how to use a DSLR camera.
In 2015 my husband and I began hiking. We started out small with Great Falls and Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland, and then moved on to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. For our honeymoon we went hiking in Shenandoah’s Central District, including Old Rag Mountain, Hawksbill, and the Appalachian Trail (AT). My love of floral macro photography moved to the mountains. Since we have further explored trails in Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and now Colorado.
